This blog was originally conceived during the teacher job action of early 2015. On Facebook when I posted an article in support of the job action, my Facebook feed was subsequently filled with negative posts regarding teachers.
In my nine years in the profession, I have found that many of the comments were claims that simply do not match the skill, effort, and emotion put forth by the hundreds of teachers that I have met.
Much of the public all have some sense of what teaching and education is; after all, many people have grown up as products of the system when they themselves were students.
However, the world of a teacher is much more different than that of the students'. Technology has also changed education. My original purpose of the blog is an attempt to try and bridge that disconnect between the public and the teacher.
Over the course of a year the purpose of the blog evolved into one of a portfolio. It has become a reflection piece and tool for the improvement of my professional practice.
I have also merged my class Earth and Space science blog from 2014-2015 into this course.
Let's see where this evolution leads. Thank you for taking the time to read. Feel free to drop a comment!
Looking forward to learning more about the life of a teacher!
